A much expanded edition of the author’s 1995 book of the same title. Bychkov describes himself as an ‘archaizer’, but worked closely with ‘innovators’ such as the avantgarde poets Aigi and Satunovskii. He is also one of Russia’s foremost translators of English verse. This edition contains Bychkov’s own poems from 1968 to 2011, his translations of Shakespeare, Herbert, Shelley, Hughes and Plath, and memoirs of Aleksandr Men’, Arkadii Shteinberg, Ian Satunovskii, Seva Nekrasov and other dissident figures of the Soviet period. |
